THE 2014 EUROPEAN ARABIAN HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP

We had yet another chance to proudly listen to the Polish national anthem! This time it was during the European Championship, which was held on 25-26 October at  the Azelhof equestrian centre near Lier. All that because of Equator from Michałów, which has been reigning as the European Champion. However, it does not end there; Poland also won seven medals!

Yearlings competed first. Ceranova from Janów came second in class 1A (Kahil Al Shaqab – Cerinola / Ecaho), giving way to the bay mare Mounira J (Emerald J - Magnificent Lady J / Extreme). In class 1B it was Polish mares that set the pace. The class was won by Pustynia Kahila (Kahil Al Shaqab (US) – Pustynna Malwa / Ekstern) with the score of 92.80. Al Jazeera from Janów (Kahil Al Shaqab (US) – Alhasa / Ganges) came second, while the third position was taken by Orlej Turni (Shanghai E.A. – Orlanka / Aslan) from StanRed Arabians owned by Al Thumama Stud from Qatar. The yearling also won the award for the best head.

Yearlings did not disappoint in the finals either:  Pustynia Kahila and Morion (Kahil Al Shaqab (US) – Mesalina / Ekstern) won silver, while Jazeera got bronze.

In the class of two-year-old mares, Piacolla from Michałów (Enzo - Polonica / Ekstern) came first, winning also the award for the best head. Piacolla’s excellent form was also appreciated by the jury in the finals; she was awarded the title of the Junior Mare Champion! The second place in the class was taken by Patria (Eden C – Palmeta / Ecaho) from the Janów Podlaski stud, followed by Emandorissa (AbhaQatar – Emanda / Ecaho) from Michałów, followed by Paterna (Eden C – Pinga / Gazal Al Shaqab) also from the same stud.

In the class B of the three-year-old mares the first prize went to Perfinka (Esparto – Perfirka / Gazal Al Shaqab) from the Białka stud. In the class of three-year-old studs, the fourth place was taken by Psyche Keret (Khidar - Psyche Victoria / Ekstern) from the Chrcynno-Pałac stud. The class was won (with a flair) by Excalibur E.A (Shanghai E.A. - Essence of Marwan E.A. / Marwan Al Shaqab) from Equus Arabians owned by Las Rosas Arabians from Uruguay. As a result, he won the Junior Stud Championship in the finals.

There was more success in the class of 4-5-year-old mares.  Primera from Janów (Eden C – Preria / Ararat) came first. She also won the award for the best head. The second and third place were reserved for mares from Michałów: Ziga-Zana (QR Marc (US) – Zagrobla / Monogramm and Diara (Eryks – Diaspora / Ganges). In the class of 8-10-year-old mares, Polish horses took the lead again. Here, Wilda (Gazal Al Shaqab – Wilga / Ekstern) from Michałów came first, followed by Pepita (Ekstern – Pepesza /Eukaliptus) from the Janów Podlaski stud, followed by Pistoria from Michałów (Gazal Al Shaqab – Palmira / Monogramm).

The class of 11-year-old-and-older mares was again won by our representative: Emira from Michałów (Laheeb – Embra / Monogramm). The second place was also taken by a mare from Michałów, the irreplaceable Georgia (Monogramm – Gizela / Palas).

After such a course of action, we could not wait for the finals. It could not go any other way: Primera unanimously became the Senior Mare Champion, Pepita the Vice-Champion, and Emira the Second Vice-Champion.

The class of 4-5-year-old studs was clearly dominated by Equator from Michałów (QR Marc – Ekliptyka / Ekstern). Equator was unrivalled, winning 4 x 20 for type and 5 x 20 for movement, a total of 94.20 points, setting the event’s record! Right behind him was Espressivo (QR Marc – Emocja / Monogramm) from Belgium. Etoryk (Om El Shahmaan – Etnologia / Gazal Al Shaqab) from Janów came third, followed by Profender K.A (QR Marc – Palanga /Ekstern) from Belgium; Pomianin (Gazal Al Shaqab – Pilar / Fawor) from Janów came fifth.

In the class of 8-10-year-old studs we kept our fingers crossed for Palatino from Janów (Pesal – Palmeta / Ecaho) which made it! Palatino scored 92.70 points, which secured him the first place in the class. The second was a stud from Falborek Arabians called Altis (WH Justice – Albia / Pers) owned by Turban Stud & Hany Edrees.

During the finals, no one had doubts as to the results. When selecting the Champion, the judges were unanimous. It was thanks to Equator that we could listen to the Polish national anthem! The Vice-Champion was F Shamaal (Maysoun – Sarameena / Fa Ibn Sar), while Palationo became the Second Vice-Champion.

The European Championship was a great success, but this was not the end of excitement. The final and the most important battle, the World Championship in Paris, is ahead of us. We are counting the days...
