WORLD ARABIAN CHAMPIONSHIP PARIS 2014

During the last weekend of November (28 – 30.11) Paris, the cultural capital of the world and an ever-living city, became the capital of Arabian horses and host to a circle of world class celebrities. Among them the best of the best – the Michałowice Stud which won the title of the Best Breeder! But that is not all …

In 2014 the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre hosted the World Arabian Championship for the sixth time. On Friday (28.12) the mares’ qualifiers took place, the stallions’ qualifiers on Saturday (29.12), and Sunday (30.12) was the day of impatiently awaited finals. Some surprises were in store, as well as long speculations about who will win the most coveted titles.

The Polish team put up an excellent performance, winning four medals: gold was awarded to Pustynia Kahila, silver to Morion and two bronze medals to Emira and  Equator. Top Ten titles were awarded to Zigi Zana and Wilda.

Kahil Al Shaqab i Equator

Day one - Pustynia Kahila reigns in the arena.

Mares were the first to compete on the Paris scene. The horses were evaluated according to a scale of 20 including half points, by 6 judges (in the finals by 8). The members of the Ground Jury were Gianmarco Aragno – Italy, Sylvie Eberhardt – German, Nasr Marei – Egypt, Ann Norden – Sweden,  Joseph Polo – USA, Vico Rocco – Brazil, Marianne Tengstedt – Denmark, Marc Veray – France.

In class 1B of yearling fillies Pustynia Kahila  (Kahil Al Shaqab – Pustynna Malwa/Ekstern) from Michałów won with a score of 91.83 points. The runner up was  Al Jazeera (Kahil Al Shaqab – Alhasa/Ganges), who received high stores for movement (including 2 x „20”). Another horse of Polish origin which made an impression in this class was Orla Turnia (Shanghai EA – Orlanka/Aslan, bred by StanRed Arabians and purchased by Al Thumama Stud of Qatar. The filly came fourth. The sixth position in class 1B was given to Ceranova (Kahil Al Shaqab – Cerinola/Ecaho).

In class 2 B of junior fillies the winner of the first place was D SHAHLA ( Marajj – FT Shaella/Shael Dream Desert), while the second place went to Essperanza Al Ventur (FA El Shawan – Honey's Delight RB/JJ Senor Magnum). Enezja (Marajj – Espinezja/Psytadel) of Falborek Arabians was the sixth in this group. Also the sixth place, but in class 2A, was given to Patria (Eden C – Palmeta/Ecaho) from Janów Podlaski.

In senior mares’ classes Polish representatives made up a strong group. The winner of class A was Najdah Al Zobair (Marwan Al Shaqab – JFN Bint Ludhan/AB Magnum). She won very high scores for type and head and neck, as much as 5 x „20”. She was immediately followed by Klassical Dream MI (Klass – Mustang's Magnum/Magnum Forty Four). The third place went to Zigi Zana (QR Marc – Zagrobla/Monogramm) from Michałów and the eighth to Pilarosa (Al Adeed Al Shaqab – Pilar/Fawor) from Janów.

Najdah Al Zobair

In class B the leading position was given to Pepita (Ekstern – Pepesza/Eukaliptus). This Janów-bred mare won the highest score of the show, 93.67 points. The second place went to another Polish mare, this time from Michałów, Emira  (Laheeb – Embra/Monogramm). This was not the end of the good tidings, as the fourth and fifth places were awarded to Wilda from Michałów (Gazal Al Shaqb – Wilga/Ekstern) and Wasa (WH Justice – Waresa/Empres) of Falborek Arabians.

Pepita

This was also the day when special prizes were given. Pepita from Janów won the title of the Highest Mare Score and the Best Moving Mare! Summarizing, the following qualified for the Top Ten: Pustynia Kahila, Ceranova, Al Jazeera, Orla Turnia, Patria, Zigi Zana, Pepita, Emira and Wilda.

Orla Turnia

Saturday – a real show of might.

On Saturday we saw five of our representatives in the right, who put up a very good performance indeed. In class A of yearling colts the winner was Ghazwan Al Jassimya (Marwan Al Shaqab – Athina El Jamaal/Maysoun). The runner up was Morion (Kahil Al Shaqab – Mesalina/Ekstern), and the fourth Calateon (Vitorio TO – Calatea/Ekstern), bred/owned by Marek Kondrasiuk.

Morion

The next Polish colt which qualified for the finale was Psyche Keret (Khidar – Psyche Victoria/Ekstern) from SK Chrcynno – Pałac. In the three-year old colts class Psyche Keret was placed sixth. The first position in this class was without any doubt well deserved by Excalibur EA(Shanghai EA – Essence of Marwan EA/Marwan Al Shaqab).

When the time came for the senior stallions’ class the temperature was high indeed. Equator (QR Marc – Ekliptyka/Ekstern) from Michałów did not disappoint his faithful supporters and came second in class A. The first place was of obviously reserved for Kahil (Marwan Al Shaqab – OFW Mishaahl/Mishaah). The winner of class B was another favourite, Eden C (Enzo – Silken Sable/Genesis C).

Eden C

Pustynia Kahila – the great hope of Michałów. Equator’s beautiful competition.

The Sunday finals started with a great success for Poland. Pustynia Kahila defeated her greatest rivals and won gold! The other candidate for gold, Victoria Al Shaqab (Farhoud Al Shaqab - Victoria II HPS/RSD Dark Victory), ultimately won bronze. The silver medal was awarded to Aj Sawari (Marwan Al Shaqab-Siberia SA/Nuzyr HCF). The victory of Pustynia Kahila was a wonderful surprise for all Polish spectators, especially those in SK Michałów.

Pustynia Kahila

In the junior fillies class the Top Ten title was awarded to Patria. The gold medal went to Donna Molta Bella SRA (DA Valentino - RD Fabreanna/ Falcon BHF), the silver to D Shahla (Marajj - FT Shaella/ Shael Dream Desert) and bronze to Essperanzza Al Ventur (FA El Shawan - Honey's Delight RB/ JJ Senor Magnum).

The senior mares’ final will be remembered as a considerable disappointment for the Janów team. This was due to the Janów bred mare Pepita, which, although a very high scorer in her class, did not win a medal, only a Top Ten title. Michałów on the other hand continued its excellent performance. Emira (Laheeb – Embra/ Monogramm) won a bronze medal. The silver medal was given to Badawieh (Laheeb – Bahiha/ Baahir) and gold to Najdah Al Zobair (Marwan Al Shaqab- JFN Bint Ludhan / AB Magnum). Zigi Zana and Wilda also left Paris with a Top Ten title.

The yearling colts championship was another reason for satisfaction. Morion from Michałów won silver and the title of Vice Champion. He was second only to a very worthy rival, the colt Ghazwan Al Jassimya. The bronze medal was awarded to a colt from Dubai,  D Mshary (QR Marc - FT Shaella/ Shael Dream Desert). Calateon won the Top Ten.

Ghazwan Al Jassimya

The junior colts championship was dominated by horses from Uruguay. The gold medal for Excalibur was a dream come true for the breeders of this wonderful colt. His greatest rival, FA El Rasheem (FA El Shawan - Virtuosa MLR / Versace) became the Vice Champion, and the bronze medal was awarded to Kanza Al Nassera (WH Justic - Ftoon Al Shaqab/ Al Adeed Al Shaqab).

Excalibur

We could not wait until the senior stallions final. The result seemed quite obvious from the beginning, and we were not disappointed. Equator from Michałów won the bronze medal. He found himself in excellent company, the silver medal was awarded to Eden C and gold to Kahil Al Shaqab.

When the real “star of the show” was presented on the stage Polish hearts missed a beat. This was no other than Kwestura (Monogramm – Kwesta/Pesennik), who well deserved her platinum title. Kwestura was bred in Michałów and is now owned by the Ajman Stud.

Kwestura

When emotions die down the time come to reflect and analyze. Paris was no doubt a great summary and crowning achievement for the hard work done in Michałów. Success is always a result of knowledge, experience, luck, and most of all time, for the best always takes time to mature.
